Blossoms Program

Hilltop's Blossoms program meets five consecutive days per week, Monday through Friday. This consecutive day schedule allows children to build on their day to day projects, discoveries, and friendships without interruption.


The Blossoms program is intended for children who may be age eligible for formal education (age 5 by September of enrollment year) but who desire an extra year of growth, development and readiness prior to entering a school system. Our environment allows each child to choose activities that are developmentally appropriate for his or her age. The Blossoms program is designed as a private school kindergarten alternative or an extra year for growth and nurturing to fit the needs of each individual child and family.

Program Goals

The primary goal of this program is to support the children in continued growth and learning through play, exploration, and fun. It is to adjust to slightly greater age appropriate social and academic expectations.


More specifically, we intend to inspire curiosity, discover relationships, develop positive self-esteem, develop learning and research skills, practice using imagination and reason to explore, create and problem solve and finally, to increase their attention span and familiarize them with following directions.

How it Happens

It is a natural tendency for children of this age to want to express their understanding of things. This leads to vocabulary building, interest in decoding written language, quantifying, experimenting, testing, and researching. We expose them to new ideas and tools and follow where there continued interest lies. The naturally formed small groups as well as increased group time help to develop greater social skills and practice cooperation.

Blossoms Daily Schedule

9:00-9:30 - Arrival, greetings, and indoor/outdoor play

9:30-10:00 - Morning Gathering with Morning Snack

10:00-11:20 - Daily activities, inside, outside and ongoing project work

11:20-11:30 - Clean up for lunch: Wash tables and hands

11:30-11:50 - Lunchbox Time

11:50-1:15 - Free play inside and outside

1:15-1:25 - Clean-up

1:30 - End of school day
